| On March 17th, 2007 the California Yacht Club installed their new Commodore and Staff and started the open of the 2007 boating season for its members. Flotilla 42 was represented by Mark Karp, MD, Bill Howard, and Larry Stewart hoisting the colors for the club's festivities. |
• Sailing Fundamentals (SF)
The Sailing Fundamentals class will start on Monday, June 19, 2006. It is an eight week class and will be held at 7:30 PM each Monday, at the California Yacht Club, 4469 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey. Instruction is free, but there is a $40 charge for textbook and materials. For further information, contact Larry Stewart at (310) 454-3548. •Basic Coastal Navigation (ACN)
The Basic Coastal Navigation class is a ten weeks class and will meet every Monday at 7:30 PM at the California Yacht Club, 4469 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey. Instruction is free, but there is a charge for textbook and materials. For more information, contact Larry Stewart at (310) 454-3548.Navigation classes are open to Coast Guard Auxiliary members
as well as the general public.

Class DetailsTime: Monday nights from 7:30pm to 9:30pm (with a short break at 8:30). Classes do not meet on major holidays. Location: Lower level of California Yacht Club, 4469 Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey. Plenty of free parking available in the outer lot. Costs: Courses are taught by Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers and there is no charge for the instruction. For each course a textbook and other materials are available for purchase. The doors open at 7pm on the first night of the class. There is no pre-registration prior to class night. Exam: Certificates are presented to those who pass the closed-book multiple choice exam at the end of each course. Some insurance companies will offer discounts for completing a boating safety course.
